I had just gotten out of a 2 hour long biology lab at the local college i attend and the whole time i was in class, the only thing on my mind was fishing for bass. I had already rigged my line and was certain my lure would work for the daily conditions. It was very sunny and in most cases this would have me worried but the north side of the lake was holding warm water and i was for sure on this cold february day that the bass would be holding under some cover where the warm water was. I trolled about 10 ft. away from a big heavy grass matt and pitched my Jig in softly not to scare the fish. When my Lure finally hit the strike zone i was ready(This was the first cast of the day).I felt a hard chatter roll down my fingers through my hands into my wrist and my gut told me this was a big one. She hit the line so hard and took off to deeper water i thought she was taking me with her. I jerked to set the hook and i was on for the ride. A constant reeling down when i had the chance and pulling up to get her closer to the boat i did.Within about a minute of praying to God for me not to lose this fish she surfaced. That big white belly lay in the water not fighting any more. i put my rod between my legs and pull her in to see that the hook was barely snagged in the upper portion in her mouth. I sat there in my 10 ft pond prowler with the biggest fish i have ever caught and kept repeating. Shes A mounter ! Shes A MOUNTER !!!!! |
