I set out on the morning of my birthday for Shady Cove, about an hour away. We arrived before daybreak, we were amoung MANY others. I decided to use my grand fathers old setup, he had caught many large fish on the same combo. It was my third cast and I hooked up, I had to navigate that fish through 11 other fishermen and guide him around two very impatient drift boats. After 40 minutes I had the fish sideways about 20 feet out on a gravel bar, handed my rod to my friend, and went out and gilled my hog. We were there the rest of the morning and that was the only fish banked. |
