this was my first sailfish.the depth was 120 ft. about 2 miles south of the boynton inlet, doing some bottom fishing while drifting. Me, my friend fernando, and his brother, Eddie, were fishing and were out there for about 3 hours without any luck besides a few bites here and there. we were thinking of going back in but i thought i would do one more drop, and so i did. while i was droppin i thought i hit the bottom so i moved my rod around to see if my weight had hit the bottom. i did feel it so i just sat there for about 5 minutes and checked my weight again and didnt feel anything at all. so i decided to reel up and as i was fernando saw a sailfish tail dance about 20 yards away from the boat.and he asked if i had it. i didnt feel anything, so i said no. but then he ran and that was when i realized i got him. it took about 30 to 40 min to get him in the boat, we finally lifted it in the boat and took pictures and released it. i plan on mounting it! and cant wait to catch my second one |
