This was my first King Mackerel and it put up a fight. Once the fish hooked on the line it ran for what seemed like FOREVER but, truly, was not that far. I started to reel it in and my arms started to burn. I got the fish close to the boat and then it saw the boat and ran. I was like...noooo come back!!! I reeled it back in and it kept going under the boat so I would run around the boat to the other side. After running around the boat 4 times I finally got the mackerel close enough for one of my other teammates to gaff it up on to the boat. Once it was on the boat all my teammates ran over and high-fived, hugged and picked me up. They cheered for the rest of the day and all I could think about was that I not only caught a BIG fish but that my arms were KILLING me! |
