Two guys were on these fish first thing in the morning...only to bust them off within minutes. I was concentrating hard on trying to get bit, when I overheard the captain telling my dad, who had just hooked up on the other side of the boat that 'If you get this fish in the boat, we'll catch fish all day...if you don't get this fish in the boat, we won't catch anymore fish for the rest of the day. No pressure.' Just as he finishes saying this, the line started screaming out of my reel. My heart stopped.... It was only the second yellowtail trip I'd ever been on in my life. I wound down and set the hook, and out of my mouth slipped 'YAHOO!!' as all the men on the boat looked at me like I was some kind of circus clown...sorry, I was excited! I heard my dad's fish hit the deck and thought 'I cant let him show me up! GOTTA GET THIS FISH!!' Soon enough, it was on it's way in the boat; that was a true moment of pride!! |
